Stainless Steel 304 sheet is one of the most commonly used stainless steel products worldwide, known for its excellent corrosion resistance, strength, and aesthetic appeal. Grade 304 is part of the austenitic family of stainless steels and contains approximately 18% chromium and 8% nickel, which enhance its resistance to oxidation and rust in various environments. 304 stainless steel sheets are non-magnetic in the annealed condition and exhibit excellent formability, weldability, and toughness, even at cryogenic temperatures. This makes them suitable for a wide range of applications, from household and architectural uses to industrial and chemical equipment. These sheets are available in various surface finishes, including 2B (smooth, dull finish), BA (bright annealed), and mirror finish, depending on the end-use. They can also be cut, bent, or stamped without compromising structural integrity. Common applications of SS 304 sheets include kitchen equipment, sinks, food processing machinery, chemical containers, architectural panels, elevators, and medical instruments. Due to their hygienic properties and ease of cleaning, they are widely used in the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries. One of the key advantages of Stainless Steel 304 sheet is its corrosion resistance in mildly corrosive environments such as atmospheric conditions and freshwater. However, for more aggressive environments involving chlorides (like seawater), a higher grade like 316 may be preferred.
